# Troubleshooting

> Fixes for common setup problems, and the known gaps of the current build.

## `npm ci` fails on the SQLite driver

The development checkout needs **Node 24.12.0**, the version the native driver and packaged runtime are qualified with. Check `node --version`, then reinstall with `npm ci`.

## The transcript prints as plain text

Ink rendering is used only when output is an interactive terminal. Add `--terminal` to force it.

## `terminal-check` refuses to start

It needs a TTY for both input and output and refuses piped input. Run it directly in a terminal window.

## A document extraction failed

Exit code `2` means the extraction failed; the message explains why. Scanned PDFs need OCR, which is not available. See [Inspect evidence](/docs/guides/documents/).

## An export shows `unconfirmed`

It is still running, or the process stopped before its outcome was saved. Inspect its directory before exporting again; BOARDROOM never retries it on its own.

## `boardroom status` prints the help text

The help text lists `status`, but this build has no handler for it. Use `doctor --json` to see local capabilities.

## Paths with spaces or accents

Supported: the packaged candidate is qualified from a directory named `Boardroom clean François` on all three platforms.
