# Export a plan and memo

> Write a new plan and decision memo, and understand receipts and unconfirmed exports.

Status: Available

```sh doc-test
node dist/cli.js export --output .boardroom/exports --data-dir .boardroom/example
```

Each recorded export creates a **new** directory named `boardroom-recorded-<operation-id>` containing two UTF-8 Markdown files, `plan.md` and `memo.md`. Existing plans and sources are never overwritten. The memo records the saved evidence identity, the remaining disagreement and the pending human decision.

For a live meeting, use `meeting-export --project PROJECT_ID --id MEETING_ID --output ./exports` (add `--with-json` for `meeting.json`), or `export` in the live terminal. The artifacts preserve proposal/view versions, the separate human choice, missing views and known/unknown costs. They filter known keys, but still require review before sharing. [Live export contract](https://github.com/francoisnoel62/Boardroom/blob/main/docs/live-decisions.md).

## Receipts

Every export has a stable operation ID. When it completes, its receipt lists the path and SHA-256 of each file written. See them with [`history`](/docs/guides/history-and-decision/).

## Unconfirmed exports

An export first records its intent and planned paths, then writes the files. If the process stops in between, the export stays `unconfirmed` — the same state it has while still running. BOARDROOM never retries it automatically. Inspect its directory before requesting a new export. A failed export may leave partial files; its receipt records the writes that finished.

Receipt hashes describe the bytes written at the time; they do not certify that the files are still unchanged.
